Berwick upon Tweed has always held a prominent place in the psyche of the nation. From its important position on the Scottish border it has wielded a sword of power over the fortunes of two nations for centuries.

From its Elizabethan battlements, to its swan colony on the Tweed, it's obvious at first glance that Berwick is something special. The holiday hide-away of L.S. Lowry is now the hometown of the exhibited artist Claire Weeks and her family. Their home, The Hollies, is a wonderful Victorian villa of softy coloured golden sandstone, and is a lovely well presented Berwick bed and breakfast.
