The beautiful Old School House in Thornton is set in a beautifully picturesque walled garden which contains mature trees, carefully manicured lawns and shrubs and flowers. The surrounding countryside of The Old School House gives you pleasant views of the farms and at spring time you will be able to view the springtime lambs with the ewes until harvest time when the fields are golden yellow.
There is only 4 miles to travel until the centre of the historic town of Berwick Upon Tweed. Berwick is right in the middle of Edinburgh and Newcastle, and it takes a little under an hour to get to each city. In the Scottish Borders there is a wealth of Abbeys, Castles, and stretches of countryside that go on for miles from the hills, to the rich and bountiful river valleys, Border towns and beaches. Nearby is the quite famous Holy Island and the Farne Islands, which is famous and popular because of the fantastic bird and seal watching. During your stay, it is also worth making a visit to the Alnwick Gardens, Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, as well as the Sea Bird Centre near Bass Rock, close to Edinburgh.
In The Old House, there are 3 rooms available for accommodation, a comfortable drawing room with a log fire and guests will enjoy home cooking using the local produce from the surrounding areas. Breakfast is a wholesome English breakfast cooked in the Aga and is served in the light and spacious dining room. If you have any special dietary requirement, please phone in advance.
Room 1 is a double room, containing a comfortable king sized double bed with a television, en suite shower room, and tea and coffee making facilities.
